Eye Care for Blurry Vision

Blurry vision is often associated with old age. A person suffering it at an early age will feel old. People with ages 40 and above but already experiencing blurry vision have presbyopia. It involves the gradual loss of the eyes to actively focus on close objects like phones, books and computers. As of now, there are almost 1.7 billion people who are presbyopic. Patients would then turn to glasses to correct their vision. However, studies found out that using glasses make the patient feel that they look like their parents.

Blurry Vision

Blurred vision can be due to the eye abnormalities present at birth but can be a symptom of other medical condition such as migraine and stroke. But blurry vision can be an underlying cause of Refractive errors, Cataracts, Diabetic retinopathy, Epiretinal membrane, Keratoconus, Macular degeneration and macular holes, Retinal detachment, Vitreous haemorrhage, and Eye infection, inflammation or injury. All of these can make a person suffer and experience a dim daylight.

Eye related disease can be hereditary. If one of your parents was born with such eye disorder, you have to consult an eye care specialist to cure it earlier. However, other eye diseases develop through time. And since, prevention is better than cure, there are ways to prevent the onset of blurry vision at an early age.

Natural ways to keep your vision clear:

  • Take multivitamins like B6 folic acid and B12 and also DHA omega-3 fatty acids. Take half of it in the morning and the other half at night. A study found out that women who took these supplements will have a lower chance of macular degeneration.
  • Monitor your health  especially regarding high blood pressure, high bad cholesterol level, high triglycerides, and weight because there are being linked to macular degeneration.
  • Eat 100% whole grains, nuts and lots of fruits and vegetables because these foods contain vitamin C and E, carotenoids and zinc.
  • Quit smoking. Smoking contains thousands of chemicals that can cause macular degeneration.
  • Walk at least 30-45 minutes every day. Exercise is good for the heart, waist, skin, sex life and eyes. It helps in nourishing your retina with optimal oxygen.

However, when living a healthy lifestyle is not enough and you still seemed to have blurry vision, you have to consult an ophthalmologist or optometrist. Both eye care practice provides eye examination, prescription and treatment. If you need surgery, only ophthalmologists are allowed to perform it.
